Healthcare
Okta provides comprehensive extended healthcare and dental benefits at no cost to you and your eligible dependents through Manulife.
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
After joining Okta, you’ll be automatically enrolled in employee-only coverage and can waive extended healthcare (proof of coverage will be required) and dental coverage. Eligible dependents can be added as part of the new hire enrollment process in the Manulife portal. Here, you’ll find additional resources available you to help you stay healthy and improve your health
Okta also offers you a health care spending account to help pay for qualified healthcare expenses funded with CAD $300 per year (pro-rated for new hires, $300 if hired between January 1 and June 30 and $150 if hired between July 1 and December 31) for employee or family coverage. There is a one-year credit forward, meaning left over money is added to the next year if it is not used. If you don’t use it by the deadline, you lose it. The most common expenses are vision, dental and paramedical visits.
*As a participant in Okta’s benefits plans, you’re subject to taxable income as required by the Canada Revenue Agency. As part of this requirement, Okta must report any employer paid benefit premiums that you participate in as taxable income on your paycheck. All provinces are taxed for life and AD&D. For residents in Quebec, the taxation also includes paid premiums for life extended health care (EHC), dental and the employee assistance program (EAP). Find more details about these tax laws.
Telemedicine (TELUS Health)
Telemedicine (TELUS Health)
Get access to virtual care 24/7 with telemedicine services through TELUS Health. You can access your care plans through the Manulife website.
New employees will receive an email from Manulife within 8-10 business days from your hire date with activation and benefit enrollment instructions for your Manulife account. Coverage is effective retroactively to your hire date. Register and complete your enrollment within 31 days of your hire date.
If you experience a qualifying life event, such as marriage, divorce, or having or adopting a child, you have 31 days to change your plan in the Manulife portal without providing proof of good health. You cannot make changes retroactively after 31-days. If you would like to add your dependents after you were hired or outside of a life event, they will be treated as late applicants and you will need to submit a completed health and dental evidence of insurability form which is available on the Manulife website. Contact the Manulife Group Benefits Service Centre directly for assistance.
Financial + Rewards
Financial benefits
Your financial security is important to us. That’s why we offer a range of financial benefits to support you through any phase of your life—whether it's right now, or years down the road.
Registered retirement savings plan (RRSP)
Registered retirement savings plan (RRSP)
Planning for and keeping track of the income you’ll have for the future starts today. You can contribute and invest your own money and receive a matching employer contribution through the RRSP, which is administered by CanadaLife.
- Enrol online through CanadaLife and take advantage of the educational tools and resources on smartpathnow.com to learn more about retirement savings and investment concepts.
- Okta will provide you with dollar-for-dollar RRSP match of up to 4% of your base salary pay. This means, to maximize the RRSP match from Okta, you must contribute at least 4% of your base salary pay each pay cycle. However, you can choose to contribute less. You can also contribute more, subject to the annual RRSP contribution limits set by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Contributions made from your bonus or commission pay are not available within the plan.
- Withdrawal of your regular contributions and the matched contributions made on your behalf or transferring of the previous regular contributions and previous matched contributions to another financial institution while you're employed is not permitted unless required by law. Withdrawals or transfer of contributions made on a voluntary basis (the amount above the matching percentage) is permitted at any time.
Note: Okta sponsors a group RRSP, not a Registered Pension Plan (RPP), which is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency.
You will find the following on your T4 slip:
- Okta’s RRSP contribution is a taxable benefit to the employee and is included in box 40, it is also included in the amount in box 14.
- You will not see amounts in box 20 and/or box 52 because they represent contributions to an RPP.
You can find detailed plan information in the Canada Life TFSA Plan.
To learn more about how you can optimize your RRSP, watch the "Get on track, stay on track" webinar.
Tax-free savings account (TFSA)
Tax-free savings account (TFSA)
The TFSA is a way for you to set money aside tax-free. Contributions to a TFSA are not deductible for income tax purposes, and any amount contributed, as well as any income earned in the account (for example, investment income and capital gains), is generally tax-free, even when it is withdrawn. Administrative or other fees in relation to TFSA and any interest or money borrowed to contribute to a TFSA are not tax deductible.
If you are a new hire after March 1, 2024, you will be able to use a guest access ID and password provided in the enrollment tip sheet to enroll in both the RRSP and TFSA. Existing members who already have an RRSP account can log in to the CanadaLife portal to enroll in the TFSA. Select Saving > Manage portfolio > Enrolment express to get started. See the Canada Life RRSP Plan Booklet for more details.

Short- and long-term disability
Short-term disability
Okta provides short-term disability coverage at no cost to you. This coverage pays part of your income if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury. Your short-term disability benefit provides 70% of your pre-disability income, up to CAD 2,000 per week. After a seven-day waiting period, which can be covered by floater days, coverage runs for up to 17 weeks. The benefit becomes effective on the first day following an accident or on the eighth day of sickness. The benefit terminates at age 70.
Long-term disability
Okta provides long-term disability coverage at no cost to you. This coverage replaces a portion of your income if you become fully disabled due to illness or injury. Okta perks
Okta perks
No matter where you sit in the world, our programs help to foster a sense of belonging and to reflect the communities in which we live and work. Check out the Workplace Services available to you on The Landing to see what’s happening in your local space.
Rewards
Your base pay works together with Okta’s bonus, equity grants (aka, “long-term incentives” or “RSUs”), and the employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) to provide you with a highly competitive pay and ownership opportunity. It’s how you share in the success of the company you’re helping to build and grow.
Cash incentive bonus program
Cash incentive bonus program
Okta sets your bonus target as a percentage of your base pay, based on your job level. The company’s performance against pre-established objectives determines whether Okta will pay bonuses each year—there is no guarantee. Company performance objectives may include achievement of annual revenue targets, net annual recurring revenue, bookings, and EBITDA.
Long-term incentives (RSUs)
Long-term incentives (RSUs)
Okta’s equity grants are made in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). RSUs are a form of equity compensation issued by Okta. Okta grants RSUs at no cost to you. For each grant, Okta converts the value into a number of RSUs based on the monthly average closing price of one share of Okta in the month prior to the grant.
Employee stock purchase plan
Employee stock purchase plan
You have another opportunity to benefit from the company’s growth and the shareholder value your work helps to create. By choosing to participate in the employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), eligible employees can invest directly in the company—by purchasing shares of Okta stock at a discount. Buy shares of Okta stock twice a year and get at least a 15% discount on your shares. You decide if you’d like to participate and how much you’d like to contribute—anywhere from 1% to 15% of your eligible pay. Certain limits apply. Please note:
- Eligible employees have two opportunities each year to enroll: May and November. If you miss the window, you’ll need to wait until the next enrollment period.
- Shares are purchased twice a year on June 20 and December 20. The amount you pay for the shares is the lower of two prices—the offering date price or the purchase date price. The 15% discount is applied to the lowest of the two prices.
- Once purchased, your Okta shares are yours to keep. When the purchase period ends, shares are purchased for you and are deposited into your E*TRADE account. At that point, you own your Okta shares, and you decide how long to hold them.
Questions? Go to the Okta Equity page on The Landing or email stock@okta.com.
